COVID-19 Archived

Dear Silver Valley Unified School District Community:

We want to assure you that Silver Valley Unified School District is actively monitoring COVID-19 and taking appropriate steps to maintain safe learning environments for our students and staff.  We work closely with the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health to ensure we are up to date with information and procedures. In keeping with our commitment to the overall health and well-being of the community we serve, we share the following information with you:

Reporting Instructions and How Families Can Limit the Spread of COVID-19

If a member of your household tests positive for COVID-19 or is awaiting test results, please keep your child at home and notify your child’s school. If your child has any symptoms associated with the Coronavirus, make sure they stay home, contact your doctor and get tested if necessary. Anyone with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 should remain at home in isolation for 10 days from symptom onset.  For those in the same household as someone with COVID-19, they must quarantine for 10 days from the date of the last close contact with the positive household member. A doctor’s note indicating a different diagnosis will be required to return to school if returning before the 10 days quarantine. It will take a concerted effort to keep the students, staff and families safe. SVUSD schools and staff will maintain confidentiality and protect student privacy, following all FERPA protocols.

Communication Process in the Event of Positive Cases

In the event there is a positive case, affected individuals will be contacted directly by their school or District staff with directions and other important information. Families of students who are not affected will not necessarily receive a notification letter and no action will be required. Silver Valley USD’s first priority is to provide an appropriate education to its students while maintaining the health and safety of students and staff. In addition to health and safety measures taken on campuses, we encourage families to be proactive and to reinforce the importance of handwashing, physical distancing and face coverings to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
