Silver Valley Unified School District continues to follow the current California Department of Public Health (CDPH) K-12 School Guidance (see below). In summary, if someone tests positive for COVID-19, the following procedures will be followed:
- Stay home and isolate for at least 5 days.
- Isolation can end after day 5 if symptoms are not present, are mild, or are resolving AND no fever for 24 hours (without the use of fever reducing medicine).
- If fever is present, isolation should be continued until 24 hours after fever resolves without using fever reducing medicine.
- If symptoms, other than fever, are not resolving; continue to isolate until symptoms are resolving or until after day 10.
- Wear a well-fitting mask around others for a total of 10 days, especially indoors. Persons may remove mask sooner than Day 10 after 2 sequential negative tests one day apart.
Please note the following when counting days for isolation:
- Day 0 is the date of symptom onset or, if asymptomatic, the date of positive test.
- Example: If someone tests positive or has symptoms begin on Wednesday (Day 0), then day 5 would be Monday. With the current guidance, if meeting the requirements above, they could return on Tuesday (day 6).
